Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Nanny Background)
Location: Ashford
Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education seeks a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant in Ashford who can bring their childcare experience into a school environment that values care, consistency, and connection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, assisting with academic tasks and promoting independence.
  • Implement strategies to support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Support students with personal care needs, including mobility assistance, feeding, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies accordingly.
  • Promote the safety and well-being of students in line with school policies and safeguarding procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a nanny or in a childcare setting, with a strong understanding of child development and individual needs.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced background checks, as required for working with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN TA training) are desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
