Full-Time English Teacher – Winchester, Hampshire

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Full-Time English Teacher to join a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Winchester. This is a maternity cover begins in September 2025, offering a rewarding annual salary between £30,000 and £50,000 depending on experience and is offered on either a fixed-term or permanent basis, depending on the successful completion of a probation period.
This role is ideal for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators looking for a fresh challenge in a supportive teaching environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and a passion for literature.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and tailored support.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.
- Participate in staff meetings, parent evenings, and wider school activities.
- Uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Previous experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 level.
- Specialism or strong subject knowledge in English Language.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
- Suitable for both newly qualified and experienced teachers.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organisation skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps).
