If so, GSL Education are inviting applications for a committed and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to join a specialist or mainstream school in Weymouth. This full-time, permanent position is available for an immediate start, offering the opportunity to support young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs in managing their behaviour and engaging in classroom activities.
- Deliver tailored interventions to help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, and communication skills.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage self-confidence and independence.
- Assist teaching staff with behaviour management strategies and lesson delivery.
- Monitor student progress and provide detailed feedback to staff and external agencies as required.
- Help to de-escalate situations and provide a calm, consistent presence during moments of distress or challenge.
Requirements that GSL Education are looking for:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or within a pastoral support role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- A calm, patient, and understanding approach in difficult or confrontational situations.
- Knowledge of strategies such as restorative practices, positive behaviour support, or trauma-informed approaches.
- Relevant qualifications or training in mental health, education, or youth work are highly desirable.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
