Teaching Assistant
Location: Ripon, North Yorkshire
Salary Scale: £83 - £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you a nurturing and committed Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?

GSL Education are currently looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student in Year 2 for a Client Primary School rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with Outstanding provision in Early Years, in Ripon, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to a student in Year 2 with additional needs, helping them access learning in the classroom.
  • Support the student’s social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external specialists to deliver a tailored support plan.
  • Create and maintain SEND friendly classrooms and teaching areas.
  • Offer assistance to the student within and outside of the classroom.
  • During group activities, ensure that the student stay on task, collaborate effectively, and resolve conflicts if arises.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children in Primary Education, ideally in a 1:1 or SEN support role.
  • Understanding of the Primary National Curriculum and strategies for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.  
  • Be able to quickly establish positive relationships.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
