Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for an Attendance Officer to work at a welcoming school in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and play a vital role in promoting student attendance and engagement.
As an Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and improving student attendance, working closely with staff, students, and families to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in school. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, empathetic, and committed to making a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality using school systems.
- Contacting parents/carers regarding absences and following up on unexplained absences.
- Working with staff and external agencies to support students with attendance concerns.
- Maintaining accurate attendance records and producing reports for senior leadership.
- Supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to overcome barriers to attendance.
- Conducting home visits when necessary (must be a driver).
- Promoting a positive attendance culture across the school.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a school or attendance-related role is desirable.
- Experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN) students is essential.
- Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
- Strong IT skills – confident using Microsoft Office and school systems (e.g., SIMS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain confidentiality.
- A positive, solution-focused attitude and a team player mindset.
- An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
