Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Wakefield, WF4
Salary: £150 - £230 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time


GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher to join a supportive educational setting in the Wakefield. This role offers the opportunity to work with students who require a tailored and nurturing approach to education, helping them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH, ensuring both academic progress and emotional development.
  • Foster a positive and structured learning environment, promoting resilience, confidence, and self-regulation among students.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs, teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies, to provide holistic support.
  • Utilise trauma-informed practices and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching strategies to meet evolving needs.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a focus on SEMH or SEN.
  • Experience working with students exhibiting SEMH difficulties, including those with conditions such as ASD, ADHD, and other complex needs.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, positive behaviour reinforcement, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with other professionals to support SEMH students.
  • Team Teach training is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
