Salary: £200 - £220 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
GSL Education are inviting applications for a dedicated Art Teacher to join a specialist SEN school based in Chesterfield. This role comes with a September start, ideal for teachers with strong creativity, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education. A full UK driving licence is essential due to the rural school location and off-site art enrichment activities.
About the Role:
You will be teaching Art to students aged 11-18 with a range of SEN, including autism, SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health needs), and moderate learning difficulties. Your role will be to create a nurturing, engaging, and imaginative classroom that supports both educational and emotional development through art.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Deliver a dynamic and accessible Art curriculum tailored to diverse SEN needs.
- Foster creativity, confidence, and emotional expression through visual arts.
- Use a therapeutic, student-centred approach to encourage engagement and communication.
- Manage classroom behaviour positively and consistently in line with the school's ethos.
- Collaborate with LSAs, therapists, and SENCOs to support individual pupil progress.
- Organise and display pupils’ work and participate in exhibitions or creative showcases.
- Ensure all safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) with a specialism in Art.
- Experience teaching within an SEN or inclusive setting is highly desirable.
- Strong behaviour management skills and understanding of trauma-informed practices.
- Exceptional communication, empathy, and creative planning abilities.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
