Job Title: Education Healthcare Assistant

Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

If so, GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Education Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join a nurturing and inclusive educational setting in Poole. About the School:
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality, person-centred healthcare support to students with a range of medical and personal care needs.
- Assisting with the implementation of individual healthcare plans (IHPs) in collaboration with the school nurse and wider multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and participating in vocational and therapeutic activities safely and confidently.
- Administering medication and providing first aid in line with school policies and healthcare regulations.
- Promoting student independence, dignity, and emotional well-being in all aspects of care and learning.
- Maintaining accurate records of care provided and contributing to regular reviews of student health and progress.
- Ensuring a safe and hygienic environment in accordance with safeguarding, health & safety, and infection control guidelines.
Candidate Expectations:
- A caring and patient approach to supporting young people with complex health and learning needs.
- Experience in a healthcare or educational support role, ideally with young people or adults with SEND.
- Confidence in providing personal care, administering medication, and responding to medical needs.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with students, families, and professionals.
- A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the school’s rural campus.
- An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
