Midday Learning Support Assistant

Salary: £95 - £100 Per Day (Depending on Experience)

If so, GSL Education are looking to appoint a dedicated and caring Midday Learning Support Assistant for a September 2025 start in Chesterfield. This position is ideal for someone with experience in SEN settings who is seeking a flexible role during school hours.

As a Midday Learning Support Assistant (Midday LSA), you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, care, and inclusion of pupils with SEN during their midday breaks. Working alongside teaching and support staff, you will help maintain a structured and supportive environment both in the dining hall and during playground activities.

What you have to do as a Midday Learning Support Assistant:

  • Supervise children with SEN during lunch and break times.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group care and support.
  • Promote safe and positive play experiences.
  • Support with personal care where required.
  • Monitor and encourage appropriate social interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and SEN staff.
  • Record and report observations to teaching staff.
  • Ensure pupils feel secure, listened to, and valued during unstructured times.

Midday LSA Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in SEN or pastoral support or as Midday Learning Support Assistant roles.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
  • A calm, patient, and understanding manner.
  • Must be a driver and have a full UK driving licence – essential for travelling between sites.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
