SEN HLTA (PMLD) – Secondary School
Location: Chelmsford
Start Date: ASAP
Setting: Secondary School
Daily Rate: £130–£200 (depending on experience)
Are you an experienced SEN HLTA passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students with complex needs? A supportive secondary school in Chelmsford is seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work closely with students who have Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

About the Role:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with PMLD and other complex needs.

Assist with personal care, physical support, and tailored learning activities.

Collaborate with SENCOs, teachers, therapists, and families to implement EHCP targets.

Use a range of communication methods (e.g. Makaton, PECS, sensory strategies) to engage learners.
✅ Ideal Candidate:
-
Proven experience working with children or young people with PMLD/SEND.

HLTA qualification or equivalent.

Calm, empathetic, and patient with strong interpersonal skills.

Comfortable with elements of personal care and physical assistance.

Team player who can confidently support teaching and learning within a secondary setting.
