We’re recruiting ASD Teaching Assistants for a well-established specialist school in Maidenhead that supports students with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role offers hands-on experience in a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to meet the individual needs of each learner.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group classroom support for students with ASD

  • Help implement structured routines, including visual timetables and behaviour plans

  • Support communication through systems like PECS, visual aids, and ABA-based approaches

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN professionals

  • Assist with sensory needs, emotional regulation, and building student independence

  • Promote a calm, supportive atmosphere throughout the school day

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs

  • Confident supporting students with autism, communication needs, or sensory processing differences

  • Patient, consistent, and reliable – someone who builds trust with pupils over time

  • Understanding of autism-friendly strategies (PECS, Makaton, ABA, etc. – training provided)

  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
