Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant – Basingstoke, Hampshire

GSL Education are currently looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work in a supportive secondary school in Basingstoke. The role is to begin ASAP/September 2025, depending on the candidate's availability. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from £20,000 to £25,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is ideal for individuals with experience in education or from the care sector, particularly those who have supported children with SEN or physical disabilities.

About the Role:
This is a classroom-based role within the school’s Resource Base, which supports students with EHCPs relating to Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Speech and Language needs. You will be working closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support for students in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and develop their skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities of SEN TA:

  • Provide support to students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver tailored learning activities in small groups.
  • Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and communication skills.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
  • Applications are welcome from those with a care background who have transferable skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting learners with additional needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
