Full-time Photography Teacher – Basingstoke, Hampshire
Do you have the creativity and passion to lead and inspire students in the art of photography?
A secondary school in Basingstoke, is seeking a Photography Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to deliver high-quality creative education in a supportive and well-resourced school environment. This position offers a competitive salary between £30,000 and £50,000 per annum, based on your experience and qualifications. A school tour is available ahead of the interview process, giving you a chance to see the facilities and meet key staff. Interviews are scheduled to take place over the coming weeks.
About the Role:
As a Photography Teacher, you will take on full classroom responsibilities including lesson planning, marking, assessments, and participation in parents’ evenings. You will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons that foster creativity and encourage students to develop their technical and artistic skills in photography.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Photography lessons across Key Stages, with a focus on creativity and critical thinking.
- Encourage students to explore both digital and traditional photographic techniques.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Support students in developing their portfolios for coursework and exhibitions.
- Participate in parents’ evenings, report writing, and departmental planning meetings.
- Contribute to the wider school community and collaborate with colleagues in the Arts department.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent – ECTs are encouraged to apply.
- Strong subject knowledge and practical skills in Photography.
- A passion for visual arts and a desire to inspire young people.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A commitment to fostering creativity and student achievement.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
