About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) in Wimborne, you will be instrumental in supporting students with a range of special educational needs. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide tailored support to help students access the curriculum, develop essential life skills, and build confidence. Your role will involve both one-on-one and group work, contributing to lesson planning, and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement personalised learning strategies that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support to individuals and small groups, helping students to engage with their learning and make progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being, modelling appropriate social interactions and encouraging self-regulation.
  • Assist in preparing lesson materials and classroom resources, ensuring lessons are accessible and engaging for all learners.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Work alongside external specialists such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to support holistic development.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or care setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A valid Driving Licence is required.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are desirable.
