Job Title: Head Maths Teacher
Location: Southsea, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on experience).
Start time: Immediate or September 2025

GSL Education are recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking school seeking a Head of Maths Teacher to take full-time charge of a committed and enthusiastic Maths team. This role is open to start immediately or from September 2025, depending on your availability.
About the Role:
As Head of Maths, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality mathematics education while leading, motivating, and managing a team of subject teachers. The position involves both classroom teaching and departmental leadership, ensuring a balanced focus on student outcomes and curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and delivery of a broad, challenging, and engaging Maths curriculum.
- Inspire and support a team of Maths teachers, fostering a culture of high expectations and professional growth.
- Monitor teaching quality and student progress, using data to inform targeted interventions.
- Support curriculum development in line with national standards and student needs.
- Model outstanding teaching and learning practices in the classroom.
- Coordinate departmental resources and promote collaborative working across year groups.
- Play a proactive role in wider school life, contributing to student development and pastoral support.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Career Teacher (ECT), or equivalent overseas qualification.
- A strong academic background in Mathematics and successful experience as the lead of the department.
- Proven ability to inspire learners and lead others within a department.
- Experience in curriculum development, data analysis, and intervention planning.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Applications from experienced TAs or Cover Supervisors with a Maths specialism.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
