Salary: £12.82 per hour

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work in a secondary school in Fareham, Hampshire. We welcome applications from both experienced support staff and enthusiastic individuals keen to develop their experience in education. About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will help students with additional learning needs, behaviour challenges, or those requiring extra academic guidance to engage fully in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to individual students and small groups to ensure equal access to the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt lesson materials and learning strategies to suit pupils’ needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop essential social and organisational skills.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate support records.
  • Support students with varying needs, including those with mild learning difficulties, EAL (English as an Additional Language), or SEMH challenges.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for students, promoting confidence and resilience.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure student welfare at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • University students studying education, psychology, or related fields are encouraged to apply, as this role offers valuable classroom experience.
  • Previous experience in an educational, childcare, or youth setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong rapport.
  • Flexible, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning and wellbeing.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake relevant training.
  • A degree, or current enrolment in university-level study (especially in Education, Psychology, or related fields), is welcome.
  • Strong commitment to inclusion and helping all students achieve their best.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
