Job Title: SEN Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to work in a well-regarded primary SEN setting in Chesterfield. This is a full-time position, ideal for those committed to making a real difference in children's lives. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for primary pupils with diverse special educational needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and confidence.
  • Help manage behaviour using appropriate de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs, where required, in line with school policies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents to monitor and record progress.
  • Assist in creating engaging, differentiated resources and activities to support learning objectives.
  • Be available to travel between school locations or assist across different year groups as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school setting.
  • Must have a valid UK driving licence and access to your transport.
  • A solid understanding of SEN conditions and how they affect learning and development.
  • Confident in using strategies to support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with young children.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to respond flexibly to pupils’ changing needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
