Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive school environment in Chesterfield. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with diverse learning needs.

About the role:

In the role of an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students who require additional support due to a range of special educational needs, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering targeted interventions and differentiated learning activities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where all pupils feel safe and valued.
  • Encourage pupil independence while offering necessary support for academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and pupil progress as directed.
  • Be prepared to travel between school sites if required, ensuring consistent support is maintained.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a school setting.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your vehicle – essential.
  • Strong understanding of various special educational needs and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and nurturing approach.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • A flexible and proactive attitude with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
