Job Title: 1:1 Support Assistant
Location: Scunthorpe
Salary: £88.94 - £104.84 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: After May 2025 Half Term
Contract: Full-time

If so, GSL Education are looking for a compassionate 1:1 Support Assistant to work full-time in a welcoming school in Scunthorpe.

As a 1:1 Support Assistant, you will work closely with a student who requires additional help due to special educational needs (SEND), social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH), or learning difficulties. Your role will be crucial in helping this learner succeed both academically and personally within a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one tailored support throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist with learning tasks, communication strategies, and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and behaviour support plans under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCO.
  • Build a trusting relationship with the pupil to encourage engagement and independence.
  • Support in transitions, break times, and off-site activities as needed.
  • Monitor and report on the student’s progress and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a 1:1 or SEN capacity.
  • A caring, patient, and flexible approach to supporting learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A resilient and proactive attitude, especially when managing challenging behaviours.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, TA qualification, or degree) are beneficial.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
