Job Title: English & Maths Intervention Teacher
Location: Epsom
Salary: £25 – £40 per hour (depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Long – Term (Hours 10-2pm, Mon-Friday)

If so, GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and experienced English & Maths Intervention Teacher to deliver small-group sessions for pupils aged 11–16 in a supportive setting that caters to students with SEMH, ADHD, and ASC. Based in Epsom, this long-term role (Hours 10-2pm, Mon-Friday) is ideal for a teacher who thrives on making a meaningful difference through structured, personalised learning.
As an English & Maths Intervention Teacher, you will provide high-quality Maths and English tuition at Functional Skills level, working with groups of 8–10 students. Your sessions will be supported by Teaching Assistants and take place in a calm, nurturing environment designed to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver targeted English and Maths lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with additional learning needs.
- Lead small group interventions with a focus on core skills, confidence-building, and engagement.
- Use a trauma-informed and student-centred approach to create an inclusive learning space.
- Collaborate with support staff to manage classroom dynamics and behaviour positively.
- Monitor progress and adapt lessons based on individual learning goals.
- Contribute to the wider goals of the provision by promoting personal development alongside academic success.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (essential).
- Proven experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and English.
- Experience working in SEN, SEMH, or Alternative Provision settings (highly desirable).
- Excellent classroom management skills with a compassionate and reflective approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with support staff and external professionals.
- Ability to lead small group interventions with a focus on pupil wellbeing and academic progress.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
