Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Southampton
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with diverse and complex needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, or SEMH. The role may involve working on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, or supporting the wider classroom depending on the needs of the pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Assist with daily classroom routines and help implement differentiated learning strategies.
- Promote social and emotional development through therapeutic and pastoral support.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment where pupils feel secure and valued.
- Liaise closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external specialists to deliver tailored provision.
- Record behaviour incidents, academic progress and key observations with clarity and confidentiality.
Job Requirements:
- Prior experience supporting children or young people with SEN in a school, care or youth setting.
- Knowledge or understanding of conditions such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning disabilities.
- A calm, compassionate and patient manner, with strong communication skills.
- A Level 2 or higher qualification in education, childcare or health & social care is desirable.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping every child fulfil their potential.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
