Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Cosham
Salary Range: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Cosham. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a profound impact on the learning journey of pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
About the role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored learning support to pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis. You will help pupils to build confidence, promote independence and achieve their personal educational goals in a safe, stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support and classroom assistance to children with EHCPs
- Adapt and implement learning strategies based on pupil needs
- Monitor and record student progress, liaising with teaching staff and parents/carers
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for all learners
- Assist with personal care and emotional regulation as required
- Encourage participation in class and support transitions throughout the day
Job Requirements:
- A qualification or equivalent in SEN or childcare credentials
- Experience supporting children with SEN in an educational or care setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a nurturing, patient approach
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
