Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time/Permanent (Part-Time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Academic Support Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in Waterlooville. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates, aspiring teachers, or university students seeking valuable school-based experience.
As an Academic Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff to provide tailored academic support to students across various subjects. Your role will involve fostering a positive learning environment and helping students overcome barriers to achievement, boosting their confidence and progress.
Your Responsibilities as an Academic Support Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students who require additional help
- Assist teachers in preparing resources and delivering targeted interventions
- Support the learning of students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
- Monitor student progress and report concerns or achievements to teaching staff
- Promote inclusion and help maintain classroom focus and engagement
- Encourage the development of academic and personal skills
What we need from an Academic Support Assistant:
- Experience working with young people in an educational setting as an Academic Support Assistant is preferred
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Ideal for graduates or university students studying in Education, Psychology, or related disciplines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach to learning support
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
