Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time/Permanent (Part-Time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are looking for a proactive and motivated Secondary Teaching Assistant (Secondary TA) to join a vibrant mainstream secondary school in Gosport. This role is perfect for those with a passion for education, including university students seeking valuable classroom experience.

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pupils to promote learning, engagement, and progress. Your presence in the classroom will support students’ academic, social, and emotional development, helping them thrive across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

Secondary Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
  • Work one-to-one or with small groups of students to provide tailored support.
  • Assist in preparing and organising classroom resources and materials.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning space.
  • Support students with varying learning needs to ensure full participation.
  • Monitor and record student progress under teacher direction.

Secondary Teaching Assistant (Secondary TA) Qualification:

  • Experience working with young people as a Secondary Teaching Assistant is desirable.
  • Ideal for university students studying Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, patient, and flexible attitude to supporting diverse learners.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
