Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time/Permanent (Part-Time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work within a dynamic mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth. This is an ideal opportunity for experienced classroom support staff or university students interested in gaining valuable school-based experience.
As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a vital role in promoting student engagement and assisting teachers in delivering high-quality learning. Your support will be key in helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and reach their potential.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Provide classroom-based support to students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Work one-to-one and with small groups to reinforce learning.
- Assist with preparing classroom materials and activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
- Support students with a range of academic abilities and needs.
- Record and report pupil progress to the teacher and SENCO.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
TA Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people as a Teaching Assistant is desirable.
- University students studying Education, Psychology, or a related subject are encouraged to apply.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach to working with students.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school setting.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
