Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time/Permanent (Part-Time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Southampton. This is a brilliant opportunity for experienced professionals or university students keen to develop their skills in an educational setting.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, supporting their academic and personal development within a dynamic school environment. Whether assisting with specific subject areas or providing general classroom support, you will be making a real impact every day.

Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Support students in the classroom, both one-to-one and in small groups, across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Assist teachers in managing classroom activities and maintaining an inclusive learning environment.
  • Help deliver differentiated instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Monitor and report student progress to teaching staff and SENCO.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and personal development of students.
  • Work in partnership with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.

LSA Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting as a Learning Support Assistant is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
  • University students pursuing degrees in Education, Psychology, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting diverse learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one.
