Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Totton
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and reliable SEN Learning Support to join a specialist setting in Totton. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a student-focused environment and is motivated to support children with special educational needs.
About the Role:
In this rewarding role, you will play an essential role in supporting students with a variety of special educational needs, such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and speech or language difficulties. Your presence in the classroom will ensure these pupils can fully engage in their learning, while also helping them to develop socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to students with varying SEN profiles, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning space by working collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals
- Support educational and emotional development while promoting independence and resilience
- Assist with classroom activities and contribute to lesson delivery where required
- Encourage student participation and engagement using positive reinforcement strategies
Job Requirements:
- Prior experience supporting individuals with SEN (in education, healthcare, or youth work settings)
- Sound understanding of the challenges facing children with additional needs
- Excellent communication, patience, and adaptability
- Ability to build rapport and foster trust with students
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) are advantageous
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
