Teacher of English
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: MPS/UPS; £31,650 - £49,084 per annum

Contract Type: Part-Time, 0.8FTE

GSL Education are seeking an qualified English teacher to work at Client Secondary Schools located approximately 15 miles north of York, North Yorkshire, starting immediately.

  • The school is an comprehensive secondary school with students aged 11-18 graded “Good” by Ofsted in quality of education and personal development this year.
  • They have students from over 35 primary schools, which contributes to the friendly, diverse environment at the school.
  • The school actively looks for ways to enhance its efficiency and benefits from collaborating with others.
  • At Key Stage 5, the school collaborates with another School, where many of their students go on to University with others securing Apprenticeships or employment.
  • The school works hard to make sure that every student graduates with the knowledge and self-assurance necessary to actively participate in their communities and the credentials required to access the next stage of their education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver English lesson that meets the individual needs of students.
  • Help students with their progress.
  • Support students of all abilities.
  • Establish appropriate guidelines in the classroom and make sure they are followed consistently.
  • Build strong rapport with students by creating an inclusive environment.
  • Perform the professional responsibilities of a school teacher as outlined in the existing school policies.
  • Plan, prepare and assess students' work.

Key Requirements:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an overseas equivalent.
  • Degree in English or a related subject.
  • A strong subject knowledge and genuine passion for English literature and language.
  • Newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the implications of SEND Code of Practice for teaching and learning.
  • Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
