Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £83 - £100 per day

GSL Education are seeking a patient, resilient, and enthusiastic Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to work at a Special Educational Needs School in Scarborough, North Yorkshire starting as soon as possible.

- With an emphasis on communication and cognition, the school's Semi-Formal curriculum is broken down into six sections.
- In Key Stages 3 and 4, their goal is to promote independence and communication through relevant, real-world experiences, with a focus on the transference of skills.

- They pride ourselves on delivering tailored education that meets the unique needs of each student, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.
Autism Teaching Assistants Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism (in a school, nursery, residential, or care setting).
- Have knowledge of associated needs and behaviours linked to Autism.
- A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health & Social Care, or Psychology) is desirable but not essential..
- Have a calm, nurturing and patient persona.
- Be a flexible education practitioner, who can adapt quickly to situations.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to have one processed via GSL Education.
Autism Teaching Assistants Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in planning and implementing lessons that accommodate the diverse needs of students with autism.
- Provide tailored support to students with Autism across the curriculum.
- Help students develop their communication and social skills.
- Support students in developing social interaction and independence skills.
- Collect data on student progress and behaviours.
- Foster positive relationships with students with autism.
