Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming and supportive school environment in Southampton. About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a vital role in helping students with additional learning needs to engage, thrive, and succeed in their educational journey. Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, you will provide one-to-one and small group support while promoting a safe and inclusive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering targeted support to students with SEN, ensuring academic and emotional needs are met.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Supporting class teachers with differentiation and inclusive classroom strategies.
  • Encouraging social interaction and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Monitoring progress and reporting back to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
  • Ensuring the welfare and safety of students in your care at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs, either in an educational or care setting.
  • A calm, nurturing, and patient approach to working with learners with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An understanding of various SEN conditions, including autism, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, external agencies, and families.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
