Job Title: SEN Learning Support

Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for SEN Learning Support staff in Portsmouth, offering a fulfilling opportunity to work in varied educational settings and contribute positively to students' learning and personal development.
As a SEN Learning Support, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one and small group support, adapting classroom activities, and promoting a positive, inclusive environment. Your role will involve working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to help students access the curriculum and achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities of SEN Learning Support:
- Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis, delivering tailored interventions and in-class assistance.
- Help implement and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning support strategies.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment, promoting student engagement and independence.
- Monitor student progress, behaviour, and well-being, and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Support students with personal care or physical needs when necessary.
- Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support.
SEN Learning Support Requirements:
- Experience working in a support role with children or young people with SEN as a SEN Learning Support.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 / NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable).
- A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education, or a similar discipline (preferred).
- Knowledge of SEN needs such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
