Job Title: Learning Support Worker
Location: Bovington
Salary Range: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Ready to make a real difference every day? If so, GSL Education seeks a dedicated Learning Support Worker to join a supportive and dynamic team in Bovington, working with students who need tailored assistance to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities of the Learning Support Worker:
- Provide individualised and group support to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement tailored learning plans that reflect each student's unique needs and strengths.
- Assist with the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, incorporating sensory, therapeutic, and enrichment activities to promote holistic development.
- Support students in developing life skills, independence, and confidence through structured routines and meaningful learning experiences.
- Engage with and contribute to the use of specialist facilities such as hydrotherapy pools, sensory rooms, and therapy spaces to enhance student progress.
- Promote inclusivity, emotional well-being, and respectful communication in every interaction, in line with the school’s values and safeguarding practices.
- Help maintain a calm, positive classroom atmosphere and implement strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour management.
- Participate in regular training and staff development sessions to continually improve professional practice and support student outcomes.
Requirements of the Learning Support Worker:
- Experience supporting children or young people with moderate to severe learning difficulties, either in an educational or care setting.
- A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach with a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including teachers, therapists, and support staff.
- Willingness to assist with personal care, therapeutic activities, and the use of specialist facilities (e.g., sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pool).
- A proactive attitude towards professional development and learning new strategies to support student progress.
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to student welfare.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Team Teach, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
