Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Salary: £12.82 per hour

Contract Type: Full-time (part-time can be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming school located in Poole, Dorset, starting in September. This role is particularly suitable for university students or graduates seeking hands-on experience in education.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work alongside teaching staff to provide academic and behavioural support to students who may require additional help within the classroom. You will contribute significantly to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters progress and confidence in every pupil.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of learning needs.
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, resource preparation, and classroom organisation.
  • Promote student engagement, behaviour management, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Track student progress and report concerns or improvements to teaching staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture for all learners.
  • Provide personal care or additional support where necessary (training provided if required).

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting is preferred.
  • University students are also encouraged to apply, particularly those with aspirations in education, psychology, youth work, or social care.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and positive under pressure.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
