Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham (S61)
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently looking to recruit a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant for a well-regarded school in Rotherham (S61).

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to enrich children's education and personal development. As a Primary Teaching Assistant, your contribution will help foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities of a Primary Teaching Assistant (Primary TA):

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Provide support to pupils in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
  • Encourage active participation and monitor progress during class activities.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive, respectful learning space.
  • Support children with reading, writing, and numeracy development.
  • Prepare learning materials and resources in advance of lessons.
  • Supervise pupils during break times and transitions throughout the day.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and contribute to the wider school team.

Primary TA Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a primary school or with children as a Primary Teaching Assistant is desirable.
  • A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is preferred.
  • A degree in Education, Psychology or in a similar field.
  • A strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, adaptable, and proactive approach.
  • Passion for working with young children and supporting their education.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
