Job Title: Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate and motivated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work within a vibrant and inclusive primary school setting in Sheffield. This rewarding role offers a daily rate of £86–£100 and provides an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with additional needs.
About the Role:
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum, achieve their learning goals, and develop socially and emotionally. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to ensure pupils receive personalised and effective support tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a variety of special educational needs (including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays).
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored activities to meet the specific needs of SEN pupils.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor pupil progress closely.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage social interaction and communication skills.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support strategies.
- Support the development of life skills and emotional resilience in pupils with SEN.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs within a primary school setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of SEN conditions and effective strategies for supporting pupils.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach to working with young learners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage positively with children, staff, and parents.
- Ability to adapt learning approaches to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification would be highly beneficial.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
