Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to support children with additional needs in a Sheffield-based school. This role provides a meaningful chance to contribute to inclusive education in a supportive environment.
About the Role:
In this position, you will work closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting them both inside and outside the classroom. You’ll be key in helping students overcome challenges, achieve their potential, and develop confidence and independence through tailored support and engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
- Follow and help implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress and adjust support strategies.
- Encourage pupil participation in classroom activities and school routines.
- Foster a nurturing, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote social interaction and develop communication skills.
- Manage behaviour calmly and support emotional regulation using positive approaches.
- Maintain accurate records and provide feedback on pupil progress.
Job Requirements:
- Prior experience supporting children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
- A positive, empathetic, and resilient attitude.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
- A relevant qualification in education or SEN support is advantageous but not essential.
- Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD, etc.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
