Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Chandler’s Ford
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

This role is ideal for individuals with a genuine interest in supporting the development, progress, and well-being of students requiring additional support.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support children with a variety of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs. You’ll be working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other support professionals to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to individual education plans and EHCPs.
  • Assist in delivering lessons, supporting differentiation and scaffolding as needed.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistent support.
  • Promote pupils’ independence, communication skills, and confidence.
  • Support the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress, reporting observations to relevant staff.
  • Ensure a secure, engaging classroom atmosphere that fosters respect and inclusion.
  • Assist with personal care or physical support tasks in line with individual pupil plans.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is essential.
  • Familiarity with a range of learning difficulties and strategies for support and intervention.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working in educational settings.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust with pupils and staff.
  • A recognised qualification in education or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and appropriate behaviour management.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
