Job Title: Specialist SEN Secondary Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a Specialist SEN Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and forward-thinking school in Chesterfield. This is a full-time role with a daily pay rate of £100 – £110, ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, inclusive setting and wants to help students aged 11–16 achieve their full potential.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and supported.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, communication needs, and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, therapists, and parents.
  • Help manage classroom routines and adapt resources to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Accompany students on educational trips and off-site vocational placements when needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN (particularly at the secondary level).
  • Confident working with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech, and language difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with students and staff.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
  • A proactive, empathetic, and resilient approach to learning support.
  • Relevant TA qualification or SEN training is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
