About the Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who need additional guidance to manage their behaviour, emotions and engagement in lessons. You will support teachers and pastoral teams across different subject areas, helping students navigate classroom routines, lesson transitions and the demands of secondary education. This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a practical difference to young people's school experience.

About the School:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural difficulties.

  • Help students manage their emotions and make positive choices throughout the school day.

  • Work alongside subject teachers to maintain a focused and orderly classroom environment.

  • Support students during lesson transitions and across different departments.

  • Encourage participation, engagement and positive interactions with peers.

  • Follow individual behaviour support strategies and report relevant concerns or progress to teaching and pastoral staff.

  • Promote safeguarding and the wellbeing of all students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people, particularly in a secondary school setting, is desirable.

  • A good understanding of behaviour management and age-appropriate support strategies.

  • Confidence communicating with students, teachers and pastoral staff.

  • A calm, patient and consistent approach when managing challenging situations.

  • Resilience and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments.

  • A genuine interest in helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
