Are you someone who can take charge of a classroom, keep students motivated and ensure learning stays on track? A secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a confident and approachable Cover Supervisor to support its teaching team and provide consistent classroom supervision.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important part in keeping lessons running smoothly when teaching staff are absent. You will supervise classes across different subjects, explain pre-prepared tasks and ensure students remain engaged with their learning. No two days will necessarily be the same, giving you the chance to work with different year groups, develop your classroom management skills and gain valuable experience in education.

About the School:

The school is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to take pride in their education. With an emphasis on mutual respect, positive behaviour and academic progress, the staff team works collaboratively to ensure pupils receive the support and guidance they need.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes across a range of subjects and year groups.

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson activities and explain instructions clearly.

  • Maintain classroom discipline and manage any disruption appropriately.

  • Encourage students to participate and complete the work provided.

  • Adapt your approach to suit different classroom environments and student needs.

  • Liaise with teaching staff regarding lesson progress and any concerns.

  • Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Confidence in supervising a classroom and managing student behaviour.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and use your initiative.

  • A flexible and organised approach to changing daily requirements.

  • Patience, resilience and a positive attitude.

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:
