Job Title: ELSA Teaching Assistant
Location: Market Weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a caring, empathetic and patient individual with a passion for supporting children's emotional wellbeing? GSL Education Hull Branch are searching for a dedicated ELSA Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a school setting in Market Weighton.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the importance of emotional wellbeing in education and can help children develop the confidence and skills to manage their feelings, build positive relationships and overcome emotional barriers to learning. You will provide targeted emotional support in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and small-group emotional literacy support sessions to pupils.
- Help children recognise, understand and manage their emotions through appropriate activities and strategies.
- Support pupils in developing self-esteem, confidence, resilience and positive social skills.
- Build trusting relationships and provide a safe space for pupils to express their feelings.
- Monitor pupils' emotional development and progress, maintaining appropriate records and sharing observations with relevant staff.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support for pupils' emotional and social needs.
Minimum Requirements
- An ELSA qualification or relevant training in Emotional Literacy Support is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting children with emotional, social or behavioural needs.
- Understanding of children's emotional development, wellbeing and positive support strategies.
- Patient, empathetic and approachable manner with excellent listening skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
