Can you take charge of a classroom, maintain a positive learning atmosphere and keep young people focused throughout the school day?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a confident and dependable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work in a school in Doncaster. This position is suitable for someone who can supervise classes, deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure pupils remain engaged when their usual teacher is unavailable.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will help maintain continuity in pupils' education by ensuring that planned lessons can go ahead effectively. You should feel comfortable leading a classroom, managing different groups of pupils and responding appropriately to everyday classroom situations.
Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.
- Distribute and explain pre-prepared lesson materials.
- Ensure pupils remain focused and complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain classroom routines and promote positive behaviour.
- Follow school policies and report any concerns to the relevant staff.
- Respond calmly and professionally to classroom challenges.
- Help maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor role:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Confident communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to supervise groups and maintain professional boundaries.
- A flexible, organised and responsible approach.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and school procedures.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
