Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediately

Do you enjoy helping young children develop the confidence and skills they need for their next stage of learning? We are looking for a qualified Early Years Practitioner to support children in an educational setting in Sheffield, with opportunities primarily suited to candidates who meet the requirements for Level 3 Teaching Assistant roles.

About the Role:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you'll support children's early education through engaging, age-appropriate activities and practical classroom support. Working alongside teachers and other Early Years staff, you'll help children develop their communication, social skills and independence while supporting their individual learning needs.

This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates with recognised Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualifications who are ready to put their knowledge into practice in a school environment.

About the School:

The setting provides a welcoming and supportive environment where children's early development and individual needs are at the heart of learning. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, inclusive and well-organised space where children can explore, develop and build the foundations for future learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Support children's learning, development and early education through practical classroom assistance.

  • Assist with age-appropriate activities and engaging learning experiences.

  • Encourage children's communication, social development and growing independence.

  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and well-organised learning environment.

  • Work alongside teachers and Early Years staff to support children's individual needs.

  • Observe children's development and share relevant progress updates with staff.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote children's welfare at all times.

Requirements:

This opportunity is primarily intended for candidates suitable for Level 3 Teaching Assistant roles. We are particularly interested in applicants who hold a recognised Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualification. If you hold one of the qualifications listed below, or an equivalent recognised qualification, we encourage you to apply. Higher qualifications must be assessed for recognition as appropriate for the role.

Recognised qualifications include:

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator (EYE).

  • Equivalent recognised childcare qualifications.

  • Higher qualifications in Early Childhood Studies or Early Years, subject to recognition.

  • T Level in Education and Early Years.

  • BTEC Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development.

  • CACHE Level 3 in Childcare and Education.

Candidates without one of these qualifications should only apply if they have substantial, directly relevant Early Years experience that may make them suitable. Experience alone does not automatically meet the formal qualification requirements, and suitability will need to be assessed.

You should also have:

  • A good understanding of children's early development and learning needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.

  • The ability to work effectively with teachers, colleagues, children and families.

  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

To work with GSL Education as an Early Years Practitioner, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.

We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.

In addition to that, GSL Education are currently offering £100 for the successful referral of either Teachers or Teaching Assistants (Ts &Cs apply).

If you hold a relevant qualification and are ready to support children's early learning and development, we'd be pleased to hear from you. Submit your CV today to be considered.
