Working alongside subject teachers and pastoral staff, you'll help students manage challenges, develop positive learning habits and remain involved in classroom activities. You may also provide one-to-one support or work with small groups, helping pupils build confidence and make progress with their education.

About the School:

Staff work collaboratively across different departments to promote positive behaviour, maintain clear expectations and provide appropriate pastoral support throughout Key Stages 3 and 4.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.

  • Work alongside subject teachers to encourage positive behaviour and engagement during lessons.

  • Support students with emotional regulation and developing appropriate responses to challenging situations.

  • Help manage lesson transitions and maintain a calm, structured learning environment.

  • Encourage participation in classroom activities and support students with their learning.

  • Implement agreed behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.

  • Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or relevant observations to teaching and pastoral staff.

  • Support students in developing confidence, independence and positive relationships with their peers.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged children or young people is desirable.

  • Understanding of behaviour management and the challenges faced by adolescent learners.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, resilient and consistent approach when dealing with challenging behaviour.

  • Ability to build positive professional relationships with students and staff.

  • Confidence working independently and as part of a wider pastoral team.

  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people's education and wellbeing.
