Salary Scale: £103–£125 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young people and can provide effective classroom supervision during teachers’ planned or unplanned absences.
Cover Supervisor Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring pupils complete pre-prepared work and follow classroom expectations. You will help maintain an orderly learning environment, respond appropriately to behavioural issues and support pupils in staying engaged throughout lessons. This role is well suited to someone who is adaptable, organised and passionate about supporting young people’s education.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across different subjects, ensuring pupils complete the work set by teaching staff.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and encourage pupils to remain focused and engaged.
- Explain lesson instructions clearly and provide appropriate guidance to help pupils complete tasks.
- Maintain a safe, respectful and well-organised classroom in line with school policies.
- Report behavioural concerns, incidents or learning-related issues to the appropriate members of staff.
- Support the wider school team with daily activities and help ensure the smooth running of the school day.
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or similar setting is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to supervise a classroom.
- Effective behaviour management skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work across different subjects, classes and year groups.
- A reliable, proactive and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to pupils’ learning and development.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
