Salary: £149 Per Day

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in a secondary school in York. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and proactive education professional who can take on additional responsibilities, support effective lesson delivery and help maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Role:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support classroom learning, deliver planned activities and provide targeted assistance to pupils with different abilities and learning needs. You may also be required to lead classes when appropriate, deliver small-group interventions and contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Lead planned learning activities for individuals, small groups or whole classes, as required.
- Support teachers with lesson preparation, classroom resources and the implementation of learning strategies.
- Monitor pupils’ understanding and progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas where additional support is needed.
- Promote positive behaviour, maintain classroom routines and encourage active participation in learning.
- Deliver targeted interventions and adapt activities to meet pupils’ individual learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to promote inclusion, pupil wellbeing and academic achievement.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- A relevant HLTA qualification or substantial experience in a senior Teaching Assistant role.
- Proven experience supporting teaching and learning within a school or similar educational setting.
- Confidence in leading classroom activities and managing pupil behaviour effectively.
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently when required.
- A proactive, adaptable and professional approach, with a commitment to high expectations and positive pupil outcomes.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
