Could you confidently manage a classroom and keep pupils engaged when their regular teacher is unavailable?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor (CS) to work with a welcoming school in Sheffield. This role is suited to someone who can manage classroom activities, encourage positive behaviour and ensure students remain focused on their learning.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure pupils remain on task.
- Maintain positive behaviour and follow school policies.
- Support pupils with classroom activities and encourage participation.
- Manage classroom routines and respond appropriately to any issues.
- Report concerns to the relevant teaching staff.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor role:
- Previous experience working with children or young people as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role is desirable.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Confidence supervising groups of pupils and maintaining discipline.
- A flexible, proactive and professional approach.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and school procedures.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
