About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside subject teachers to support learning across different departments. You'll help students understand tasks, stay focused during lessons and access learning activities suited to their needs. Whether you're supporting individuals or small groups, your contribution will help pupils participate more confidently and make steady progress, including with their GCSE preparation where appropriate.
About the School:
The school aims to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their best. Staff work collaboratively to meet a range of learning needs, maintain clear expectations and help young people develop both academically and personally.
Responsibilities:
-
Support students with classroom tasks and learning activities across Key Stages 3 and 4.
-
Work with subject teachers to reinforce lesson content and instructions.
-
Provide individual and small-group support to pupils who need additional help.
-
Encourage students to stay engaged, participate in lessons and develop independent learning skills.
-
Help students organise their work and prepare for assessments where appropriate.
-
Support positive behaviour and smooth transitions between lessons.
-
Share relevant observations about pupils' progress with teachers.
-
Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain tasks clearly.
-
A patient, approachable and encouraging manner.
-
Confidence supporting students with different abilities and learning needs.
-
The ability to work effectively with subject teachers and other school staff.
-
A genuine interest in helping secondary-aged pupils succeed.
-
Relevant education or childcare qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
If you're ready to help young people build their skills and confidence in the classroom, we'd welcome your application.
