About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant (SEN), you'll work alongside teachers and other support staff to help pupils with additional needs take part in classroom activities and make progress at their own pace. Your day may involve providing one-to-one support, adapting learning tasks, encouraging communication and helping children manage transitions and everyday challenges. It's an opportunity to make a real difference through patience, consistency and a good understanding of individual needs.

About the School:

The school is committed to inclusive education and recognises that every pupil learns differently. Staff work collaboratively to provide a structured, welcoming environment where children receive appropriate support, develop independence and feel valued as part of the school community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with special educational needs.

  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and adapt tasks to suit individual learning needs.

  • Encourage pupils to participate in lessons and develop greater independence.

  • Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.

  • Help pupils manage daily routines and transitions throughout the school day.

  • Follow individual education and behaviour support plans where appropriate.

  • Monitor pupils' progress and share observations with teachers and the wider support team.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment and follow safeguarding procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable.

  • A patient, empathetic and flexible approach to supporting different needs.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to adapt your approach to individual pupils.

  • Confidence working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.

  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education and helping children develop their skills and confidence.
