Salary: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time
Are you confident managing a classroom and keeping pupils focused when their regular teacher is unavailable?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work with an outstanding school in Sheffield. This opportunity would suit someone who can take responsibility for a class, follow prepared lesson materials and maintain a productive learning environment throughout the school day.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise classes during the absence of the regular teacher.
- Explain lesson instructions clearly and ensure pupils understand their tasks.
- Maintain classroom routines and promote positive behaviour.
- Encourage pupils to remain focused and complete their assigned work.
- Respond calmly to classroom issues and follow school procedures.
- Report relevant concerns or incidents to teaching staff.
- Help create a safe and respectful learning environment.
Requirements for the Cover Supervisor role:
- Previous experience working with children or young people as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role is encouraged.
- Experience in education, tutoring or youth work would be beneficial.
- Confidence in supervising groups and maintaining classroom expectations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and organised in challenging situations.
- Reliable, adaptable and professional approach.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
